I quite enjoy Mirrors Edge. Everyone seems to hate this game but I think the design work and atmosphere is superb. The music is top list, and the story isnt half bad either. I am hoping the 2nd one comes out soon. Hot chick, parkour, guns, and trans music? A+

This would be another one of mine, Last Battle for the Sega Mega Drive. In Japan this was a Fist Of North Star game but was adapted for the western market. The big sprites are impressive but the limited gameplay and unfair hits do kind of ruin it. For some reason though I always enjoyed playing this, probably because I love scrolling beat 'em ups.

That doesn't seem to bad to me.  I guess I'll have to give it a try once I get the flashcart.  :)

That honor would have to go to Friday the 13th for the NES. I never heard anyone say anything good about it but I'm a huge fan of the movie series. And It still catches me off guard when Jason jumps out for battle. I think its a good game.

Why do people typically dislike the game, Jagman?

I know a lot of people complain about the difficulty, which is it a little difficult. And trying to figure out where you are is sometimes frustrating, especially when your in the woods. And it never fails, the cabin that Jason usually shows up in is completely on the other side of the camp  >:(

Ah, so the game difficulty is why people don't like it.  Yes, sometimes games get bad ratings because of their difficulty.

And for all I know, it probably is a horrible game. But because I'm a big fan of the movies I'm looking at it through different eyes, make sense?

Absolutely!  When we are fans of something, we are more forgiving of any faults it may have.  :)

Let me think... the first thing that comes to mind is Primal Rage. It's far from the worst fighting game ever played, and if it weren't for the way the special moves worked, I wouldn't even put it on this page. It really just tries so hard to be a good fighting game, given some of the mechanics, and I feel really bad CALLING it bad, but... I dunno. It depends on my mood, really. Don't cry, Primal Rage. I still love you.

Either that, or Ken's Labyrinth. Where do I start? It's an FPS where your main weapon is launching blobs of jelly at people. There are buttons that make the camera go higher or lower that serve absolutely no purpose. Most of the voice acting is done by the programmer, Ken Silverman, or his mom.

It looks like this.

There's an earlier version that looks even worse. And yet, I can't hate this game. Probably it's one of my first, and the 'SAVE IT FOR LATER' voice clip you get for using a thing you can't interact with has been an in-joke in my family for years. So... I don't know.

I am a sucker for Full Motion Video games.  I know most suck but I am a fan anyhow.  I just wonder what could be done with the genre had they been created in more recent times?

You might want to look into the new Tex Murphy game, coming out... eventually.

Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure Official Trailer #2

It's basically a sequel to a series of FMV adventure games that people actually think rather highly of, if you ever heard of A Killing Moon, Pandora Directive, or Overseer. Two of those are cheap on GOG.

I think I'm reviving this thread.  I've been listening to the Atari 2600 Game by Game Podcast and just the episode about a game that I have always liked but that gets lots of hate:  RealSports Baseball.  Even the video I'm posting gives it a thumbs down!  LOL  I don't care.  I still like it.  :)
