« on: July 28, 2012, 23:49:45 PM »
The Bitmap Brothers are probably my favorite Software House ever, so a little poll to see what RVG thought of there games.

This will be a regular feature.

Xenon (1988)
Speedball (1988)
Xenon II: Megablast (1989)
Cadaver (1990)
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe (1990)
Gods (1991)
Magic Pockets (1991)
The Chaos Engine (1993)
The Chaos Engine 2 (1996)
Z (1996)
Speedball 2100 (2000)
Z: Steel Soldiers (2001)
World War II: Frontline Command (2003)

For me it most definitely had to be "Xenon" , I fondly remember this beauty back on the Atari ST days as it was one of the first true 16bit next gen style shooters I ever saw on a home computer, thinking to myself, this is the future and I'm alive to see it !  :D

I went with Speedball 2 also.

I'm not usually a fan of sports games, but I spent hours with Speedball 2... improving my roster and playing through to the championship.

After Speedball II my next 2 choices would have been the Xenon games.

I went for Speedball 2.  Such a great game in it's own right, but add in my fond memories of playing SB2 with mates on the Mega Drive and this becomes one of my all time
 favourite games.

Before that we'd play Speedball on 486 PC's during computing class at college.  When the lecturer wasn't looking of course!

I voted for World War II: Frontline Command. I had to keep an old computer with a cd rom around because the dvd
players will not play the cd.

I have I mentioned this site is Great and thanks again TrekMD!

thread bump but...

Bimap Bros memember Mike Montgomery said in hindsight, they really should have put a 'hidden port' of Amiga Speedball 2 in Speedball 2100.

For me, it has to be The Chaos Engine.  Steampunk time!  Great stuff.  A superb game.  I suppose that two players action is better - but the computer controlled player(in the single player mode) is pretty good fun as well.  I actually prefer the colour scheme of the OCS Amiga version as opposed to the AGA Amiga and PC version.  I think the more sober gray and dull styling fits in with the Victorian and Steampunk theme of the game better.  That being said, at least the AGA button allowed the use of two buttoned joystick(needing for the "special power").  A shame that sequel never matched the original.

A special mention to Speedball IIas well.  Good arcade type fun in a unique sports type game.  "Ice-cream.  Ice-cream."

I'll give Gods a mention as well.  A decent arcade/platformer/puzzle game.  Put its own spin on the genre.  Perhaps the controls could have been a bit more responsive.

The Bitmap Brothers did put in some decent music in their games.  It was always something that you remembered from them.

Likewise with the shop element.  How many games of theirs has that?
