Video Game Artistry Compendium (Darren Doyle ©2014)
« on: July 01, 2014, 17:24:33 PM »
I'm very pleased to announce
Video Game Artistry[/align:3oie89zv]
A collection of digital Paintings from iconic moments in video games[/align:3oie89zv]
[/align:3oie89zv]

Thanks allot for all the top ten's guys ( see here http://www.retrovideogamer.co.uk/http://www.retrovideogamer.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4), I've been keeping it a secret to why I asked for your top tens and I'm going to go out on a limb here and exclusively announce my next big project in which I will be looking into a crowd fund raiser to help me produce this product and if successful with the help of everybody in the community this could be in your hand early next year.

The book I'm hoping to be hardback with consist of 200 pages of classic video gaming moments digitally re-painted by myself from actual video game screenshots and presented in a stylish hardback form or softback, the book with contain paintings from the Atari ST, Amiga, Arcade, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, PC Engine, Megadrive and Super Nintendo all in one book, this is of course a very ambitious project and and a big achievement by one person if successful, I can't show you any images from the book yet, but if you go here

Hey this sounds great Greyfox! Would love to see an example of the sort of work that will be included.
Will keep an eye on development on this one!

The R-type and Double Dragon ones look amazing! Well they all do, not too sure about the Crystal Castles one, maybe its the lack of detail in the game in the first place or small sprites? loving the others anyway.

Just a quick thank you to whomever spilt the topic, I was intending to this at some point :9:), the Double Dragon and R-Type imagery will be in here but completely different images and paintings for the book, so 100% new content.

No worries, GF.  If you're going to include Crystal Castles I'm sure you can create something even more impressive.  ;)

okay I thought I'd update this thread now with what's going on with this product..so without further ado..

The book with consist of over 200 pages of if classic video game moments and title screens digitally painted broken into 7 chapters covering about 12-15 iconic game painted in the style and fashion of famous artists like Van Gogh, Jean Camille, Paul Cezanne and many others others, which will make for an incredible unique book of painted artwork celebrating classic games of both computer and console alike, so I hope you like the idea as much as I do, I have about 24% of the book created so far and will continue work on it leading up to the proper announcement. I'm hoping for the book to ne at least 12" x 10" is size, so it's going to be big if viable and subject to costs of production etc.

And yes I will also be hoping to do my very first fund raiser on this project as it's the only way to get it made and out into peoples hands, so I hope you'll all support it when it commences in April/May 2015 and wait till you see the perks I'm hoping to produce and have hopefully planned never done before as I want to go all out on this project, so watch out for those too.

All will be revealed at the kickstarter commencing in April - May 2015 and if this is successful I will then go on to kick-start my other project people having been dying to get their hands, my "Coin-Op: The Arcade Guide" book. So hoping 2015 will be a great year for retro gaming and you :113:

So in the mean time if you all goto this topic here? and give me your top ten games on Snes, Megadrive, c64, Speccy, Amiga, Atari ST and Arcade, your choices could make it into the book :)

Darren.

yes I most definitively see your point there, I might move to April-May then and allowing time and effort taken to produce the book, it might be the better choice to do it then ;)
