CVG to close?
« on: May 21, 2014, 06:34:49 AM »
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-27486867

"Computer and Video Games (CVG), which in 1981 was the world's first magazine dedicated to gaming, is facing closure.

The title, which has been online-only since 2004, may stop publishing at the end of a 45-day consultation period that began on 14 May, sources said.

However, its publishers Future are also believed to be looking into selling off the brand."

Just spotted this on my way out, I'll just leave this here for now.....

Shame if its true, get a lot of gaming news from the site, along with Magicbox which has stopped recently too.
Mag wise it went downhill from 1994 anyway, and i still cant believe that rubbish Gamesmaster mag is still going!
Have to find some other multiformat news site....but Ill never turn to the immature IGN sites for news though!

I loved the magazine back in the day, shame it stopped really as it was truly iconic.

Never really used the website.

Righteo then, only over half a day before I got time to follow up lol

"CVG does really well - but it just didn't fit in that portfolio."

and

"Future are also believed to be looking into selling off the brand."

So why stop it?

I may not read it myself but it just seems FP aren't quite sure what to do with the 'doing really well' CVG so want to get rid.

I wonder how much they want for it?  :113:

The first computer magazine I ever bought, but not my favourite. Preffered Crash and Your Sinclair.
