What's your favourite David Crane game?

David Crane is one of the true legends of the video game industry. From his early days at Atari to being a co-founder of both Activision and Absolute Entertainment he continued to design and program some of the best titles to hit the market.

Games like Pitfall and Ghostbusters are still as iconic as they ever were but the question remains, which one is your favourite?

You can read a full biography of his work HERE![/align:3dlhs03u]

That would be Pitfall II!  Clearly, though, he programmed quite a number of excellent games for the 2600!

This was a really hard one for me to pick, but I went with Ghostbusters. This was mainly due to nostalgic reasons rather than it being the best game on the list. It was one of my first Spectrum games and I later picked up the 2600 version too and have a lot of happy memories playing it.

I've never actually played Ghostbusters on the 2600.  I need to get it to try it out.

I haven't played some of his games, but out of the ones I have I had to pick Pitfall!

Tough choice. Growing up I wanted Frogger for the 2600 but we had Freeway instead. Freeway is no Frogger but as kids do I found it very enjoyable and still like to play to this day.

I just finished watching this.  It was awesome! It truly is amazing to see how new techniques were developed just to get the 2600 to do more than it was supposed to.

I voted for the one I've spent the most time playing. By far that would be Pitfall II on the 2600. Pitfall! is probably right after that in terms of time spent, then Grand Prix. I have to pinch myself sometime to remember that current Activision is nothing like what he started.

I chose Pitfall! I almost clicked for Pitfall II, but after thinking about it I prefer the faster game time of the original. Part 2 is definitely a big adventure and with a great soundtrack, but it has some annoying aspects, such as humongous resets when you die causing tons of backtracking, which I've historically hated in many games. Also, the soundtrack while fantastic, is super repetitive to a fault with the game's extended game length. So, the original Pitfall! wins out.

I have this suspicion that A Boy And His Blob may actually be his 'best' game, but I've never played it, but I do remember very good reviews for the game in the magazines I was reading at the time. At least, that's what I remember but I could be mistaken. It always looked like a neat game.
