Of those listed, it'd have to be Mr Driller even though I was pretty late to that series.

Retro-wise, it'd be Diggers, which I played loads of on the Acorn Archimedes. I spent about 30 hours just playing the demo!

More recently, Miner Dig Deep on XBLA was excellent. Much like Diggers but with direct rather than Lemmings-like control. One of very few XBLA games I've bought, actually.

Most recently, Steamworld Dig for the 3DS. Again, it's similar to Miner Dig Deep but with a lovely steampunk style and some Metroidvania aspects.

Well, I voted Mr Do! as that was a great arcade game which I loved to play. I also loved Boulderdash on my 800 XL and a few other digging games but I was never a fan of Dig Dug.
