ANDROID GAMES - RETRO (OR NOT)
« on: March 07, 2012, 16:36:02 PM »
I have an Android handset for work, but like to play a few games on train sometimes.  Not really explored the possibilities at all yet.   Anyone here an Android gamer?

I don't really go in for emulation - prefer just to download via market.

retro style games are better for me as I don't have a mega data allowance.

Started my collection with Sprinkler and Blitz (renake of the old vic 20 game)

There are some very impressive games coming out for Android, such as Sacred Odyssey, Eternal Legacy and other shameless "pastiches" of more celebrated games.

But actually the game I've played most on Android is Drop7, a game which could easily be managed by the Vic 20.

the retro blitz game I have is a clone of the Vic 20 game - looks and sounds the same - but the touchscreen controls are a bit laggy which rather ruins it - hitting that last building becomes too hard

I own both an Android tablet (the Asus Transformer Prime) and a phone (HTC Thunberbolt).  Here are some of the games I have:
Airport Mania
Abduction!2
All the Angry Bird games
aTilt 3D Labyrinth
BlooKid (this has retro style graphics)
Baseball Superheroes 2011
Cordy
Fieldrunners
FLCommando
Atari Greatest Hits
Jelly Defense
Guerrilla Bob
Pac-Man Championship Edition
Neoteria (this has retro style graphics)
R-Type
Sonic CD
Space War
Tetris
X-men
Zombie Dash

I have some Tegra 3 games on the tablet also that are more console-quality games.

good list - just downloaded Atari's greatest hits and good luck! it comes with my favourite Atari game free, Missile Command.  Works OK - again as with Blitz, wish the screen response was a bit quicker - nice for free though

I forgot to include one that works well on both Android phones and tablets:  Captain America

I got Atari Greatest Hits when Amazon had it for free one day, so it has more games included.  You may want to check Amazon every day to see what they offer as they mostly give away games for Android.

OK more good games...and I just bought these today with the special Google is running.  All for 49 US cents.
Modern Combat 3
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit
Dead Space

I would also recommend Osmos HD, which they also have on sale for TODAY only.

New Android game today: Samurai vs Zombies Defense.  Pretty cool graphics and gameplay.

Game play video:

Is there a way to embed the videos?
