I also want to mention Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. It's pretty much my favorite of the 'drop a bunch of crap on the other guy before he drops a bunch of crap on you' sort of games, and I'd say it's way easier to get into than something like Puyo Puyo/Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine/Kirby's Avalanche/Timon & Puumba's Bug Drop. At least, it is for me.

Another 2 puzzle games that are really under rated are the arcade games Puzznic and Plotting by Taito.

Ocean did conversions of both to the home computers but I think the only console that got ports was the NES, shame as they are both excellent games.

Plotting (ZX Spectrum)

It is!  I'm not sure why there isn't a video of this game.

Here are two Intellivision titles that definitely belong here:  Locomotion and Happy Trails!

[align=center:3fe50chj]Here are a few of my favourites from the Atari 8-bit - firstly Zenji by Activision it's a very addictive puzzler that requires real strategy to complete each level and reminds me a lot of the excellent Pipemania that came much later:

Atari 800 XL - Zenji[/align:3fe50chj]

Next up is Xirius Defect XXL, a new version of the game I posted earlier. It's a simply superb homebrew game with a very original concept, not something you see that often these days. The sublime POKEY music is also worthy of a very special mention:

And lastly - remember Lemmings? Of course you do! Well did you realise that you can get Lemmings on the A8? Well you can and it's a rather spiffing version too, renamed The Brundles it's well worth a look!

I mentioned it in passing earlier in this thread but I really need to give it the attention it deserves - that game is Baku Baku. Originally released for the Sega Saturn, it is one of best puzzle games of all time. It's right up there with Tetris, Klax and Columns and might even be better than all of those! The concept is simple, as it should be, match the animals to their food. Also, and very surprisingly, it got a very late release for the Sega Master System in Brazil thanks to Tectoy and was then also ported over to the Game Gear too. These versions lack the attractive graphics of the Saturn version but hold up just as well in the gameplay stakes!

That looks like one cool puzzle game.  The SMS version could almost be considered a demake of the Saturn version, I guess.  The gameplay is still there.
