Working Dreamcast emulator leaked for Android!

Im currently transferring some Isos to my Xperia play to test, no sound as yet though...can't wait. Hopefully in 6-12 months this should be running full speed with sound esp on high spec phones and gamepads.

This is great but it's realistically pointless as the dreamcast iso are most of the time over a gig in size..and use the GDrom system and seems like a huge amount of sd memeory simply to play crazy taxi, plus didn't the dreamcast have a 60mhz mode too? This will in my guess make it even more unstable, but a huge achievement none the less and wish them the very best with it and hope it can deliver.

They are patched that way with dummy files fella. Most of the real data is much smaller. The Dreamcast employs a Constant Angular Velocity (CAV) drive.  The disc will spin at the same speed regardless of the position of the laser. As it moves from the centre of the disc to the outer edge, it is reading more data per revolution, and so you see improved loading times. Therefore, the closer you move the data to the outer edge, the quicker it can be read by the console. This is what a dummy file achieves--it is deliberately placed at the start of the disc (the centre), usually by giving it a name beginning with one or more 0s, so as to push the useful data closer to the edge.

Not much bigger than ps1 and Saturn games, I agree it takes up space, but I'm using a 64gb micro sd card in my Xperia play so enough room for 60 games...

Anyway the files need to be in the GDi format for this alpha, I had a quick go with crazy taxi, loads fine, but the game itself has a few graphical issues...nothing major but on my 1ghz phone it's not that fast, I know they have posted a new video with major speedups so looking forward to the official release.
Looks hw accelerated too, the screen res whilst playing Was 854x480 and looks very nice indeed....please please handheld Shenmue within 12 months!!

Very cool!  Even if the game files are large, you can just add and remove as you need to.  :)

Looks good but like a lot of these things, it's pointless if you can't actually play the games properly.
There's no way you can replicate an analogue stick, d-pad, 4 buttons and 2 analogue triggers on a phone!  :-

What they need to do is make a Dreamcast style jopad where your phone plugs into it like the VMU!

Are there USB controllers that are similar to the Dreamcast controller?

Not really the DC controller is very unique, mainly because of the VMU, which if you don't know is a memory card with a screen that plugs into it:

Yep, see the screen in the middle? That is the VMU and is removable, so if they adapted the controller so you could slot a phone in there instead that would work perfectly!

Well you can to some degree like most emulators it's not the same as playing on real hardware, touchscreens are crap for emulators I agree, but more android devices are out and more coming that have proper controls, so the analogue, pad and buttons aren't a problem, it's just the vmu and triggers that pose a problem, but for now the triggers be assigned to a button, the vmu isn't that a deal breaker tbh u would still be able to save at some point.

I reckon this would be a kick app on the OUYA, booting Iso's from a Sd card and with save states via the emu, this would be bring all the consoles and computers to one platform, i can see it now...Snes, MD, Neo Geo, A8 ,ATari ST, Amiga, Dosbox, DreamCast, PSX...ohh my the colours, the sounds, the sites..hmmmm got a bit carried away there....:)

yes. this would be great..I hope they can achieve this epic emulator.
