Retro Chat / Re: Retro vs modern console's

I always want something physical for my money - the few downloaded games I did buy I lost when I change PC etc - it just makes games disposable and less important.  It's OK to download Tiny Wings - but for COD or MASS EFFECT I want a case and disc.

I like to see a HD re-vamp of Panzer Dragoon Saga (not a remake as such, but it could be very nice)

currently sorting out my twitter accounts - separating work from gaming - but once i have that done it'd be good to make use of twitter - easier to chat retro on the move with twitter.

Anyone else on here I can add in once I get my twitter accounts in order?

are there any other retro gaming print magazines besides Retro Gamer? Maybe in the US?

the craziest thing I ever got was a C64 and 70 games at a carboot years back.  It started to rain like mad and the guy basically said 'just take it' - I think I gave him a quid or something - he clearly wanted rid of it.  All worked fine, but have since passed it on to a friend due to lack of space.  Don't know why I don't carboot more - something to get into in 2012

Not sure if anyone here carboots? - I am thinking of starting.

My first one I was hoping to try was Battersea Carboot next time I'm up in London.

Outrun, Space Harrier and After Burner are where most of my pocket money went - but I was terrible at all of them!

That is the classic Sega arcade era for me.

One thing I don't play in modern arcades is shooting games - far too many dirty, sticky light guns have out me off...

I think there was a free mug offer too?

A shame that long running subs don't get anything - don't even get the magazine before the shops these days...

might be best just to say PSP is good for play retro on  ;)  Got loads of great compilations, including a few japanese ones whose menus still baffle me.

snoopers paradise is pretty expensive - I do go here often to look - but everything is in cabinets and more than eBay prices.  Fun play to hang out though.

There is (was?) also X Electrical in Hammersmith which I used to buy retro from when I worked up there.  Small selection, but games were in decent condition.

Retro Handhelds & Tabletops / Re: The SNK Neo Geo X!!!

I enjoyed the SNK collections on PSP - this new handheld would need to offer a wide range of SNK titles at a reasonable price for me to consider it.

(plus, it DOES look like an iPhone 4 with bits stuck on - is it really real?)

Hello Retro fellow travellers

Been a lurker at various forums before, but thought I'd take the plunge as RVG looked friendly.

Retro-wise, I'm into Dreamcast and Megadrive (does PSP count as retro too now?? LOL)

I also play plenty of new games, mainly on PS3.

My outlook on the retro scene is: 'hey, it's a bit of fun'

Look forward to getting to know you all here.
