Retro Chat / Do American GBA Games Have Stamped Characters Behind The Lab
« on: November 25, 2014, 17:35:53 PM »
Hi All,

Today I purchased a GBA game (Grand Theft Auto Advance) from a reputable online marketplace. However, when it arrived, It was the American edition and had the ESRB logo on it, rather than the UK edition which looks completely different on the label front.

Not too much of an issue, but when I done the usual check of the label it didn't have the stamped characters behind the label.

I've got a feeling that the American GBA games do have the stamped characters, but wanted to double check before I contact the seller regarding the issue.

Thanks in advance.

Retro Chat / X-Files (PS1) Graphical Issues
« on: August 02, 2014, 15:02:47 PM »
Hi All,

Not sure if anyone has had this issue on the forum, but I'm trying to play the X-Files for PS1 on an HDTV, but the icon graphics are all glitchy!
For example the pointers are just a bunch of colours in a square as opposed to being a hand graphic.

I've tried "Game Mode" on my TV and texture smoothing on the PS2 settings but can't get this to stop...any ideas?

The PS2 is connected via RCA Composite (red, white, yellow cables)...would an original PS1 connected via antenna be best for this instead?

Retro Chat / What the hell did they do to Spyro?
« on: July 27, 2014, 17:11:06 PM »
Alright, as you can probably see I'm a bit of a Spyro fan from my pic, growing up in the 90's with Spyro was heaven-sent!

I could take the PS2 ports and even the fact that they may not have lived up to the PS1 game expectations...but seriously what the hell did they do to him putting him in the Skylanders set?

What's everyone's opinion on "what they should have done with Spyro"

Retro Chat / How on earth do you play Space Channel 5?
« on: July 05, 2014, 10:04:41 AM »
So I've tried countless times to try and play Space Channel 5, but cannot for the life of me get around HOW you actually play it?

the aliens shout left, right, up, down, chu, chu, chu.
I press left, right, up, down, a, a, a in exactly the same rhythm and beat but I always get the "boing" failure sound and ratings drop!

Can anyone explain how to actually do this game and get good ratings?

Retro Chat / What's the name of this game?
« on: June 30, 2014, 10:54:45 AM »
Hi everyone,

Years ago (I'm talking about 10 years ago, if not more!) I played a Playstation 1 / PSX game which I can't remember the name of.
I've got a feeling it was an action horror game, and the only details I can really remember is that you had to answer a public telephone, then walk a few streets and answer the next telephone etc. (No this isn't Die Hard or that level from GTA3).

Sorry to be vague, but I'm sure it was something similar to Resident Evil / Alone In The Dark / Silent Hill etc.

I think (again this is a huge long shot!) that the character had a brown jackets and fair coloured hair...but this may be guessing and completely inaccurate.

Retro Chat / Best Storylines in Games
« on: May 25, 2014, 17:45:41 PM »
Hi All,

I wanted to start off a topic on seeing what (in your own opinion) are the best Storylines in games...Though some people say PS2 / Xbox / Gamecube etc. aren't completely retro, for me I've included a couple from my personal list...

1) Fahrenheit (The Indigo Prophecy)
2) GTA San Andreas
3) The Original Spyro Trilogy
4) Max Payne 1 & 2 (Also in my top 10 games list of all time)
5) Perfect Dark (bit whacky but definitely cool)

Hi Everyone,

My name's Ashley and I'm a huge retro games fan. I own a few Sega and Nintendo consoles and am building a huge library of games.
I've just started a blog:

It's a little difficult to try and get followers (or maybe it's because it's only a week old), but I'd love for you to visit, share, comment and follow my blog as it's updated once or twice weekly (usually Fridays).

Hope to see some of you there, and will be posting on the forum here from time to time :-)

All the best
