Title: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: dcultrapro on April 24, 2012, 12:55:48 PM
Hey gang,

I can't remember making a thread about my channel yet, and I hope its ok to do one, I just wanted to share the channel with you guys here and see what you think, I'm still kind of struggling to find a happy medium with regards to format and layout of my actual videos but I've got some nice stuff on there and if anyone would like to subscribe I'm more than happy to subscribe back in return!

I specialise in Dreamcast stuff but I have also uploaded (and plan to upload more of) lots of older stuff like Saturn, Mega Drive, 32x etc, I'm also doing walkthroughs for games such as Evil Twin and Slave Zero on DC and Shadow Of The Collossus on PS2.

All suggestions, recommendations and/or requests are welcomed/encouraged!

Again, I'm pretty sure I haven't made a thread about this yet, hope its ok to do so, the link to my channel is below:

http://www.youtube.com/user/Antonyv1982?feature=mhee (http://http)

again please make suggestions, comments and/or requests here or on my channel feed, I monitor it regularly!

I'm going to upload some more stuff tonight, will probably be my last upload before my wedding in 2 weeks!!

Enjoy and I look forward to hearing your thoughts

aaah ok cool I wasn't sure if it was the right place to post it either. the thing I'm interested in the most would be peoples feedback and recommendations on the content so far and the things they'd like to see more of. I know I need to get back onto the Jaguar sometime soon, that would be awesome! anyway if any of you other members of RVG have some ideas please let me know

cheers

Must have missed your post in the other thread. I will have a proper look through laters and feedback my thoughts but it looks great so far.

thanks, also not just feedback but if there are any games you want to see you can request a video and I will try my best to make something to suit... obviously if I don't have the game I can't make the video but heres a list of the games I do have in attach, I'm now able to capture video from consoles as old as Master System so anything on my list apart from PC games will be fine for a video!

Sweet, how about some videos for the RVG youtube page as well?

I dont have the ability these days to create vids so any you could do would be great?

I don't see why not, how would that work? to be honest I don't have the time to really do anything to schedule, and I am still learning the best ways to format and present my videos, what with my wedding being less than 2 weeks away life is pretty ridiculously hectic to say the least! Tonight the other half is watching the football so its my one chance to get some more Evil Twin done, maybe upload a couple of obscure Dreamcast show cases from my collection and I might try and fit some Jaguar in there too.

I'd really like to add commentary of some kind but I'm finding it hard to get mics etc to work when you have to record the sound from the capture card too... sooo complicated! lol

Hey everyone

Tempest parts 3 and 4 are up, that's it for my Tempest playthrough... I went through the whole playthrough thinking my best score was 690k so I was on the edge of my seat the WHOLE WAY thinking I might beat it lol, but when I got to the end and saw my best was actually just shy of 1mil I was a bit disappointed that I hadn't done better.... oh well!

anyway regarding my channel:

I know I promised some more videos for DC/Jaguar and other consoles very soon but Im currently waiting on a new pc arriving. It takes SOOOO long to encode my videos, put them into movie maker, put all the bits together then convert them and upload them that I just thought fcuk it I'll wait till I get my new PC, its supposed to be dispatched today/tomorrow so with any luck I will have it by Thursday, up and running by the weekend worst case scenario

I'll start a new thread in off topic or something to show what its like and discuss. keep an eye on my channel for more Jaguar and Dreamcast vids, I've already captured Super Burnout and Iron Soldier 2 footage so I just need to process and movie maker it ;)

On the first mission there is the main city you are placed in and then off down a road there is a smaller city which is where all the crates are that you have to recover to complete the mission. When you go there you get attacked far more than you do in the main city.

Another nice video mate! Super Burnout is one of my favourite games for the Jaguar, here is something that might help you with it:

Press 2, 1, 7, 9, 4 at the title screen and it will make a sound. Now The Punisher bike will available on the bike selection screen.

yeah I don't mind... "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" as the saying goes!

sadly I had to take down my JSR part 2 vid as the song in the second mission was the ONLY song that is strictly copyrighted from the soundtrack... typical shit huh, so I will refilm it sometime and upload it again. Meantime I have a few other DC games to come yet ;)

Yes please that would be great!

Just say something like - it's a great site for everything retro gaming related with a forum, reviews section, home brew section, arcade and off topic chat etc.

Whatever comes natural to you, don't want it to be forced.

ta very much! I'm still using footage of JSR from before I updated the driver and the picture quality NOW is much better than when I captured these latest parts of JSR. I'm going to upload two more vids today and I played Gunlord and captured footage of that last night, its pretty awesome to be fair. Puts me in mind of the 80s when all developers/publishers were tiny teams and they churned out awesome platformers/shooters with nuts storys but awesome gameplay... can't wait to show you guys

yeah how odd is that, think its for comic effect though what with games like this always having bad translations, I think that's what they aimed for  lol, thanks, glad you like, hope you liked the tube vid as well ;) I've just twigged that Native was a Duranik game, and they are obviously working on Sturmwind for Dreamcast which I preordered about 18 months ago. did anyone ever ask them when it would be finished? Native I mean?

Native will never be finished sadly, they started it and then switched development to the Dreamcast.

HOLY CRAP!  :o

You really are on fire tonight!!!

Galaxy Force II was also on the Mega Drive and it's a conversion of the arcade game of the same name (not a sequal to an MD game). The original game used Sega's Super Scaler hardware that was first used by Outrun and then Afterburner and Space Harrier too among others.

Interesting Fact 1: The first home machine that featured hardware scaling was the Atari Lynx, several years before any other system also had it.

Interesting Fact 2: Soul Star is a clone / rip-off / inspired by Galaxy Force II, as you may have noticed from playing it. The Jag CD and Mega CD versions are great examples of those console's scaling abilities.

Has to be done mate, for me it's easily the most impressive Jaguar game out there.

It has texture mapped 3D graphics that out do most Saturn games and many PS1 games too and lighting effects that neither system can touch. Damn good CD soundtrack too and cinepak intro.

hmmm.... not sure I would agree with you on the graphical comparisons there, but then I haven't looked at it in a while, though I'm pretty sure I remember seeing a number of Saturn games that looked better/crisper, such as Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers, but I'll have to think about it when I watch it again, I do remember it having pretty nice graphics.

If anything I actually think Phase Zero had the most graphical potential, if they'd had time to flesh it out and include more enemies, detail, power ups, longer levels that couldve been the game of the system

EDIT: just been looking at the graphics from a nice quality youtube vid and the polygons/textures do look quite nice, however its pretty obvious that its only able to display a limited number and there is no real detail, just repeated metal textures and patterns, they appear to literally repeat every few frames and the draw distance is minimal, still it does look fairly crisp for a Jag game with Polygons, but I'd have to say that the Saturn out performs it, I mean the vehicle isn't seen, its just a 2nd sprite taking up half the screen, where as the Dragon in Panzer Dragoon Saga is full polygon along with the walls and environment details, and all though the draw isn't much larger than the Jag what you see is far more detailed.... still I guess it depends on how you judge it I suppose

But I am talking about games of the same type, the Panzer Dragoon games are on rails for a start so there is much less to draw. Compare the incredibly similar Krazy Ivan on the Saturn or PS1 (came out at the same time too) to Hoverstrike CD and the Jag game is clearly more impressive.

Yes Phase Zero had a lot of potential, great shame it wasn't finished. That game proved that voxel engines would have been a great way to go with the Jaguar instead of 3D engines. Definately a title that shows an area of untapped potential.

Just saw your edit LOL

As I said in my previous post, compare it to a game of the same type. Not an "on-rails" shooter like Panzer Dragoon. Although the PD games have horrendous pop-up and draw distance despite being generally stunning looking. Like I said look up Krazy Ivan on the PS1 and Saturn then compare ;)

aaah ok, I just thought you meant any 3d styles, and fair point though Hover Strike still doesn't impress me as much as all that, I mean I could count the different textures on one hand they just repeat and with the incredibly low draw and the fact that the hud/inside cockpit graphic takes up a lot of the screen, I'd have a hard time agreeing that its better looking than Krazy Ivan, the polygonal characters, enemies, items and other things in Krazy Ivan are far more prevalent and frequent and you can tell that Hover strike is literally loading them all as you turn, still there really isn't much between them, and I'm no expert, I'd have to look at KI again to compare as I haven't seen that game in YEARS!! Last time I tried to play it my copy didn't seem to run properly

I ran them side by side at a show and everyone agreed that Hoverstrike CD looked much better. I actually think you are doing HC: 3D a real disservice here.

I already said that on the CD version of HS you can change the view to outside the craft instead of cockpit. It isn't loading any enemies as you turn, the whole level is stored in RAM.

to be perfectly honest I wasn't reading word for word as I'm at work, let me have a better read later on and I'll see, I've not exactly played many levels of Hoverstrike so maybe I'm just judging based on the first two levels, I'll play it again this week and do a vid

I'm planning on going back on this tonight for a nice try out, I never normally get that far in these types of games, like Skyhammer and I war I just seem to play the first mission or so, I might try and get a little further and then upload a vid. Might do a quick/short video review for the RVG youtube channel and see how it goes, though I'm not sure on the format yet

regarding my channel, got some more vids coming soon, I plan on doing some more Dreamcast games but I'm going to make a scheduled stop on my older Sega consoles now that I can capture them whenever I want... check back for updates soon

Not sure how you guys will feel about this one seeing as its only 10 years old and probably not really "RETRO" in the same sense that the site probably means but its a sequel to a classic and I thought as its 10 years old this year and the original is coming to XBLA that I'd do a vid of it. also I was actually asked for it as well!

Enjoy!

I like that style though, its fresh and different to other people out there. Most people who make You Tube videos are either trying to be the Angry Video Game Nerd, are a boring geek or stoner who dosn't have a clue what they are actually talking about.

Still have friends and family round that way in Hemel, St. Albans and Harpenden so might move back some day, this is a much nicer place to live than (S)Hatfield though.

news regarding my Master System top 10 vid, thanks to the awesome Vyothric I received my Master System with its RGB mod, so I will finally be able to capture footage from Alex Kidd in Miracle World... which means I will be able to get my video together, I've already captured most of the other footage but its going to be a long job editing it... mean time I will be uploading more vids for Dreamcast and Mega Drive etc, I'll put a few exclusives together for RVG while I'm at it

anyway thanks mate, don't forget to share or like the vids if you do... I tend to get the odd dislike which completely skews the reputation of the videos so any likes are ALWAYS really appreciated :)

yeah, but it can get a bit repetitive... when you die you loose the resources or materials that allow you to equip the parts you build. so you have to go around with lower level parts, kill enemies, build up your resources and equip your better parts again... its all about becoming powerful enough before moving to a new area... its a great game though

yeah Geist is a shame, it had the potential to be a really great game. I only hope they can iron some of the bugs out and maybe make some kind of good manual to play it properly or get the best possible play out of it, that would be good

yeah I have a few more bits to upload this week actually but I might change my model soon because uploading several in one day doesn't seem to be the best in terms of getting viewers... Might try and space them out more

Post by: onthinice on October 19, 2012, 15:00:20 PM
Oh dcultrapro, you made my day!!!!! Blur looks amazing!!! I caught myself looking at the scenery quite a few times.

I laughed so hard at your driving with the trunk flopping open and the bumper hanging down. I had a 1976 Oldsmobile with the same problems. It also had bad shocks which made me bounce around even at low speeds. It was my go to work and winter driving car. One time a friend and myself were going to work. We went around a corner and he started waving. I said what are you doing? 'He said your car leans so bad in curves, I am waving at the ants on the ground!". Priceless memories!!! LOL!!!!!

I love racing games. My dad used to race IH Scouts in the 70's which was International Harvester's answer to the Jeep. I had an '88 Camaro and '90 Firebird Formula . So it is nice to see a good game like Blur that can take me back to a time when the only thing I could not pass was a gas station.

Thanks Ultrapro!!!

I know its not retro related in the least but I consider a lot of you guys on here to be mates and I'm thinking about uploading some vids from my wedding that I recently aquired, there is one of my wife and I just after the ceremony, one of my speech at the breakfast and one of my best man speech as well, just interested to know whether theres enough interest for me to upload it, if there is I may put a seperate topic in offtopic or somewhere like that. Not sure if I will put it as public or unlisted on my channel atm

thanks, I probably will just need to get round to it, maybe this weekend I'll get it up, though I don't wanna make it all mushy and wierd like that guy Alex Aris or whatever his name is, that was just fcuked up lol

on a side note, just to give you all a heads up...I spent the better part of 3 hours playing EVIL TWIN last night and I got more done, I'm hitting areas and levels I've never seen before and although i can safely say its probably the MOST frustrating platformer I've EVER played on Dreamcast, I am also a little in love with its character and style. Though it is really disappointing when you accomplish something and either the dialogue doesn't load properly or an entire cut scene just skips completely!! Anyway over the next few days I will be uploading more videos in my walkthrough, keep your eyes peeled ;) also more Slave Zero, Dragons Blood and Seventh Cross hopefully coming soon

I will also have some more 8bit/16bit stuff for the RVG channel soon, I need to speak to Zapiy again though and see what he wants me to do

Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: dcultrapro on October 31, 2012, 09:19:12 AM
part 15 features one of my favourite action stages so watch out for that. I've also just played the last hour again because I was accidentally skipping cut scenes by mistake. You press x to talk to characters to activate cut scenes etc and you approach characters but won't know where to stand or how close to get so you end up tapping x to activate the scenes and if you tap it to much X also SKIPS the scenes. So I went back and recaptured the last hour without missing any scenes... one section in particular is a nightmare of jumping platforms above the ocean that I have sadly played enough now that I am almost an expert lol

part 15 will be up end of the week or sooner if you guys want it. I try not to overload the channel as the vids don't get enough views

Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: dcultrapro on October 31, 2012, 16:46:40 PM
well I warn you if you ever get it, it is BLOODY frustrating at times. Not DIFFICULT, just frustrating when you jump, can't tell/gauge how close or far you are and it looks like you land on what you were aiming for but then... you slide off. Its a guilty pleasure for me though. Hopefully as I get further into it you'll see some of the more unique aspects of the game

any other titles you wanna see some gameplay from or anyone else? I have all my discs in big cd wallets now so its nice and easy to do my vids :)

:o I have used both the Sega mk I and II models. Never had any problems with 32X sound. Do you know for sure the 32X is working correctly? No bent or broken pins inside.

The picture was really nice. Only other thing i can think of is different connectors or borrow a friends 32X.
Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: dcultrapro on November 06, 2012, 16:10:57 PM
the 32x works fine, you can see in the video that, with the composite cables and the 3mm - composite audio from the headphone jack that picture is perfect and sound is stereo... it appears I may need a mono av cable for the 32x. I have one for the MD1 and SMS1 but didn't know there was one for the 32x. Apparently it came with one in case people had MD MK1's, its got the Mega Drive MK2/32x connector but it ends in one white and one yellow composite. I've ordered one for uber cheap and we shall see if it solves the problem
Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: Vyothric on November 06, 2012, 16:15:50 PM
If you want, I could try and fix your MD2 scart and also wire a 3.5mm cable for the headphone socket to it so that you get sound through the scart.
Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: onthinice on November 06, 2012, 16:16:44 PM
Your right about the video. Guess I am still upset that you do not have Cueball for the DC. :P I hope a new cable fixes the problem.
Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: dcultrapro on November 06, 2012, 16:56:00 PM
lol thanks guys. Vyo... sounds AWESOME!! so how would the scart work exactly? in laymans terms? lol
Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: Vyothric on November 06, 2012, 17:43:42 PM
It'd be like this one (http://http) for the MD1 but with an MD2 end for the 32x. So you'd have the MD2 type connector for the video going to the 32x and a 3.5mm connector for audio going to the MD1 but both connected to the same scart lead.

As far as I know, no-one ever made an MD2 cable like that as normally you wouldn't need it. But if you want stereo through the scart lead while using an MD2 cable, it is possible. You just need to wire up a 3.5mm cable to the audio pins of the scart lead.
Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: dcultrapro on November 07, 2012, 00:20:54 AM
so would that be easy for you to repair the broken pin and do the re-wire you mentioned? let me know what you think, if you'd be willing to do that then awesome I'll send the cable and pay for postage or something
Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: Vyothric on November 07, 2012, 00:55:20 AM
Yeah, shouldn't be a problem. Just send the cable my way and I'll see what I can do.  :)

Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: dcultrapro on November 26, 2012, 16:13:28 PM
I have always been a big advocate of G1 being born in 1982 it was what I grew up with, I didn't mind Beast Wars but never watched any of the pokemon styled armada etc. Haven't watched a new cartoon of Transformers since the early 90s, I might download prime and see what its like, what do you think of it?
Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: onthinice on November 26, 2012, 16:26:59 PM
I really liked G1. I thought the use of multiple bots like the Aerobots, Combaticons,  Constructicons and my favorite the Stunticons was pure genius. Jazz is my favorite Transformer.  The first movie was great till he was killed off.

By this time Laird is telling Zapiy that nerds have invaded the site. lol

I've been watching Beast Wars of late. The more I watch the more I like of the series. Beast Machines is deep so I am having a hard time staying interested.

I really like the new Transformer Prime. I think my wife gets tired of me telling her that Megatron is voiced by the same guy who does Fred on Scooby Doo. It is great to hear Peter Cullen as Optimus and Megatron is a real bad a**. Probably the most faithfull return to the original series so far. Maybe just darker which makes it more grownup and means I do not have to feel like a nerd while watching.

Transformers Prime is very well done.  I can hardly wait for the next season!  The way they ended the current season was a jaw dropper.

Nice update mate, cheers for that!

I would love to see you do an overview/review of the PAL TurboGrafx for the RVG channel as I don't think anyone else out there has ever done one.

yeah could do a feature on it, though I haven't got a massive amount of games for it yet but I am definitely enjoying Ninja Spirit (forgot to mention that one) Alien Crush and Dragon Spirit. I might play around with some ideas this weekend as the wife is out Saturday night

Would be a cool video to do for the RVG channel. It doesn't matter that you don't have loads of games. It would more about giving your intial thoughts on the system and taking a closer look at it. Also dispelling some of the myths about the PAL TG, before I got mine I heard that it was RF only (when in fact you have to plug in a modulator to use RF), that it had massive borders on the picture (when it has none), that all the games ran really slow on it (untrue), most of the games had graphics glitches because they were meant for NTSC (untrue) and that it had really bad build quality (also bollocks).

So if in the video you could address all those points then that would be great and might educate a few idiots out there.

lol sounds good! I can agree with what you said on all those points I wouldn't agree with any of those things people moan about. On SOME games I do sometimes see a little sprite flicker (the only time I've noticed it more than once is at the start of Ninja Spirit during the intro with the wolf but I haven't noticed it anywhere else so far and its barely noticeable) or whatever you call it but its certainly not on the level that happened on the Master System for example and is certainly not a massive issue that effects my enjoyment. But yeah I'm definitely tempted to make something about it

Yes but sprite flicker would not be a fault of the PAL TurboGrafx, its a fault of the system in general. The TG/PCE can actually display more sprites than both the MD and SNES, which is why it is so good at shooters.

exactly, I didn't mean that was a problem with the PAL system I meant what you said lol, that its probably a minor inherent trait of the system its self. Certainly nothing you wouldn't expect from a console 20+ years old!!

Definately, it was actually 25 years old this year as the PC Engine came out in Japan in 1987!!!!

wow... yeah actually last night I remember seeing on Dragon Spirit that it was from 1987 but I thought that just meant it was copyrighted that year not necessarily released that year

I need to try and find a way to do a review of the system so as it works well with the camera. I might use the Ipad to help me with it as it has a front and back camera and can stand up without me holding it lol... gonna have a brainstorm about how to do it this weekend I reckon

cheers buddy, yeah I love the game its just a frustrating one until you get used to it

so a slightly side related issue here... I was wondering what you guys think I should do, I was thinking about monetizing my channel but that would mean adverts and two problems with adverts, firstly people who watch my channel won't be too happy, and second could I get in trouble with people like Sony, MS, Sega etc for making money out of my videos?

So I was thinking what do you guys think about me emailing the respective companies and asking for permission, is that a worthwhile idea or is it not worth it? just interested to know what you guys think

You can't get in trouble with anyone. Video footage is not subject to copyright if it is your own, nothing to worry about.

you mean if I record my own footage from a game? Ok thats cool but I have definitely had some copyright notices on my channel for footage before, specifically for the sound most of the time. So for example I had an MSR video for Dreamcast up and the intro tune to that caused me to get a copyright note, so I just thought I'd check

Yeah music is a different matter, I got one for music just because it was playing in the background at a retro show! Game music is usually fine unless its something that was a real song, if you get my meaning.

cool

just as a heads up... not sure whats happened but this weekend I don't seem to be getting good performance out of my capture device anymore. I thought maybe it was my pc or maybe a specific console but it seems it is across the board. the sound just comes through all messed up. So bottom line I can't capture right now, I will be doing more vids soon as I have purchased a new device but will have to see how long it takes to arrive and if it works fine from the get go or not. Hopefully I won't be delayed for too long

aaah ok sorry, I was at work and must've missed that when I saw the vid about Chaos Control, that explains a lot. So on the CDI I assume you moved the cursor with a controller right? Does that mean you could hypothetically use a controller on the Saturn? I dunno I guess I would be keen to try both control options

anyway what did you think of the new artwork and tshirt? I put a fair bit o work into that new poster and it was just pretty spontaneous lol.. I never plan these things

No, the Saturn version is identical to the CD-i version. But yes you can use a controller if you really want, light gun is miles better. I have done a full review of it on here so you could just read that  ;D

your welcome! I'm hoping to showcase Frame Gride Translated and D2 soon but at the moment I am having some difficulty capturing good picture, as they are both imports the capture device I use doesn't like the signal so I have to send it through my DVD/VCR copier/recorder and doing that throws the image off centre by quite a bit so I have to try and iron that out. Otherwise I have a Saturn game on the way and a few more chapters to my walkthroughs that I'm doing atm so keep your eyes peeled for more! I have completed the next chapter in Dragons Blood, just need to edit and trim it into vids and upload, same with Headhunter :D

gonna try and get Frame Gride and D2 done tonight, not sure why I've got an issue with capturing from Dreamcast imports I managed ok with EGG and Ikaruga previously so I will have to have a mess around with my setup and see where its going wrong, at the moment though the image comes through a bit funny. thanks mate! I'm trying to do D2 and Titan Wars but I'm trying to tweak them with Sony Vegas and so far I'm struggling, trying to remove the black border, sort out the brightness etc but thus far the picture quality of the output is worse than the original capture. So, if it takes too long I will simply upload the Titan Wars footage I have, capture some new stuff from D2 and grab a couple of older titles as a surprise :)

I know and believe it or not I haven't forgotten I just haven't been able to get the piece of shit to work with my new android phone AT ALL (Sony Xperia Z) and I'm actually really hacked off about it. I'd be quite interested in talking to them about it. I have messaged people that have done apps which they say make it work but I don't seem to be able to get anywhere. Shame as I really like the little device. I just don't feel I can do a good review of it yet, I could do one now but I'm probably going to give it about a 5/10 as it stands, it has minimal support on the Ipad and nothing so far seems to work on Android :(

Yep just connected it via Blue Tooth, phone recognised it straight away. I tried a few games with it like R-Type, Acceler8, Zen Pinball and Beach Buggy Blitz.

what a W*&^R I have tried several games on my phone and no dice, what model galaxy was it? a 2 or 3? does it run the latest version of Jellybean? I've been reading that some of these devices don't like 4.1.2 which is what I'm on. Aaah well I'll give it back to you and you can do a far fairer review, as I said I didn't want to do one without giving it a fair chance to work, spent hours on it a couple of nights this week and before going away but it just wouldn't work with games  :20:

superb! I've actually just ordered a new bluetooth controller purely for my android phone, literally just as we've been talking, its designed to hold your android phone above the controller and I've seen vids of it working on 4.1.2 with emulators I use without having to get any extra software at all... it was only 17 as well! if I get it before the weekend I'll bring it with me :D

Title: Re: My Youtube Channel a Hardcore / Oldschool Gamers Haven
Post by: dcultrapro on September 17, 2013, 00:42:55 AM
hmmm.... could be? lol, yeah it was pretty glitchy, but being a massively obsessed Dreamcast nut when it came out I didn't see anything wrong with it.... one of those games where you looked passed a lot of issues partly due to it being a new experience but also partly due to the immense anticipation and excitement!

Got some more stuff coming soon, I am around just never get as much time to post anymore having moved onto a job where I actually have to WORK during my days lol

Nice video!  I agree with you about the one issue with the GameBoys - the lack of a backlight is very annoying.  Nintendo did that to save batter power, of course, but it is still annoying.

Thanks guys and thanks Laird, I don't know why I just couldn't get it to embed properly lol, I even copied the link format from my previous posts but no joy...

Anyway yeah sorry guys I've been just preoccupied with other things and I tend to drift away from my channel after a couple months, its annoying its just that the editing and upload process is quite complicated sometimes and I just get burnt out with it after a while. Though I will always love my retro stuff and plan to get back on the saddle soon.

Anyone got any requests of games they would like to see? I would be happy to take any requests under advisement if I have the game ;)

Nice to see another Battle Morph video but I don't like the way the screen is stretched like that, should be at the right ratio.

I must admit I never notice once I've done the editing and watch it back, maybe its just me. The footage from the jag is sometimes problematic and I sometimes have trouble getting it to fit in certain ways, Sony Vegas doesn't always handle it properly, I thought it looked ok like that but maybe I'm wrong

I am pretty sure you can change the ratio in the You Tube editor, I could be wrong though. I had to do it for one of my videos and I remember playing around for ages before I figured it out.

Hey gang, been a little while since I shared anything with you but I wanted to share my finished and complete Dragons Blood Walkthrough with you, took a long time to do it but I did it in the end!!

here is the final video in the series showing the end confrontation:

Dreamcast Games: Dragons Blood part 27; THE END (http://http)
and here is a link to the full video playthrough:

Also, here is the latest part of my slave zero for DC walkthrough, its getting very close to the end now, I believe after this there SHOULD only be two left, they will be up soon! The final boss is proving to be a real nightmare!

I'm hoping to do some more Headhunter and Evil Twin for my channel as well as probably featuring some more brilliant Original Xbox games so keep your eyes open!

cheers guys :D really enjoying these vids/games so far!

So I finally finished the Slave Zero for Dreamcast Walkthrough! Check out the ending chapter right here and please spare a thought for me... this was a good 3/4 hours of torture! I wouldn't say its broken but trying to beat the Sovkhan was like pulling 6" nails through my eye lids... seriously I wouldn't wish this on anyone. On the Dreamcast the controls just aren't quick enough at times and the environment is nightmare to navigate especially when trying to escape the top of that roof in the middle! Still, its done now and I'm going back to a few of my other walkthroughs for your viewing pleasure! Keep your eyes out for more Headhunter, Evil Twin and, whisper it softly, maybe some more Seventh Cross Evolution!

Apologies for awakening an oldish thread but I didn't want to spam and start a new thread. Just a quick one, I've done a new channel update, its probably not great because its been so long I've forgotten whether I've already talked about half the stuff I show but hey ho! Oh and I am also uploading more of my Headhunter Walkthrough on Dreamcast, after finishing Slave Zero and Dragons Blood I took a bit of a rest

enjoy!

Always love your vids fella. You know that. And don't apologise for renewing an old thread we want more people to do the same. It's all relevant at the end of the day.

Very nice!  As Zap said, no worries about reviving all threads.  That is a non-issue here.  :)

Awesome... I just wanted to ask (as somehow I seem to have two dislikes on my update vid) If any of you guys dislike anything I'm doing please share a thought with me on my comments section and let me know what I'm doing wrong, I would prefer feedback like that than just the fairly unhelpful thumbs down. Equally, if you like my vids PLEASE hit the like so that its reflected on the videos reputations.. I always welcome criticism and praise a like! Cheers again

Some people post dislikes for stupid stuff.  I've seen dislikes on videos that have no reason to have a dislike (like a video of a baby doing something cute).

Yeah some people just unlike something for the sake of it. Sad but that's real life. Having said that if someone has a genuine dislike of something that's fair also but some feedback is nice like you say. So you could possibly fix it.

hey guys, I've got a few more bits for you. I'm trying to finish Headhunter on Dreamcast so I'm kicking on with that while its fresh and I'm really enjoying playing it. I'm trying to edit out the loading times, its a bit of a chore but should be ok. I've also uploaded an Original Microsoft Xbox game vid which I thought was nice, check them out. Hopefully the quality is starting to get better, I'm using a Hauppauge HD PVR and Sony Vegas Pro 12 to edit and render them, finding ways to finally capture 60hz as well now so next time I'm on PSO online I shall be capturing that awesome action! Anyway, let me know what you think

Hey gang... thought I'd pop my latest vids in here, some headhunter and 1 new Xbox game vid, enjoy!

Great job, DCUltrapro! I have only made it thru the first video so far but looks amazing. Can't wait to watch the others. Games have come a far cry from when I played Wolfenstein on the Commodore 64.

well I've done a few vids for xbox games on my channel in the past but not that many, and they are mostly Dreamcast related such as Jet Set Radio Future, Gunvalkyrie etc etc. but yeah I love the original xbox and will be doing a little more soon :D

Meantime, check out my twitch for footage from tonights AMAZING live broadcast of Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast! It was amazing and a wonderful trip down memory lane, we had about 12 people in the lobby at one point! Edited footage will be up on my channel soon and photos are up on my Photobucket

I have made some highlights on my twitch from the footage... enjoy!

Hey mate, no worries I've always got more on the way :D

Here's my latest one, the excellent Mega CD Game Supreme Warrior, and its a long play! I apologise in advance for the poor audio sync (the game is pretty poorly edited anyway with audio often out of sync) and the picture is abysmal but thats to be expected from a Mega CD Game... anyway enjoy!
