Title: New Atari 2600 Homebrew - Draconian
Post by: TrekMD on May 04, 2014, 21:26:22 PM
Atari Age member SpiceWare has released a demo for another excellent homebrew title for the Atari 2600: Draconian. He started work on this title in March and has just released it as a WIP.

Your goal is to destroy the space stations on each level. Use the radar, located at the bottom of the screen between the score and lives remaining, to find the stations (green dots) in relation to yourself (white dot). Destroy the stations by taking out all 6 pods.

Or by hitting the occasionally exposed Energy Field.

Be careful of asteroids and mines. Also beware of the enemy ships. They currently just fly around in formation and cannot yet be destroyed, but running into them is still deadly.

I just modified the first post as his request as what has been released is still a work in progress.  It's not the final version yet.  ;)

New update:

New menu options:
Quadrant: Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta
Sector: 1-x, depends on selected Quadrant.  This used to be Level
Level: Kids, Easy, Normal, Hard

Quadrants:
Alpha - Midway arcade levels (Nathan's mapped out 12 sectors so far)
Beta - will be Namco [new] arcade levels
Gamma - will be unique levels for Draconian.
Delta - will be AtariAge contest levels
Note: Beta, Gamma and Delta contain placeholder levels for now.

Level currently controls the number of space objects (asteroids and mines) that appear in each of the 32 horizontal zones.

1 Requires Stella ver 3.7.1 or later.
